Ubisoft, the makers of the King Kong video game (ridiculously long full title: Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie), announced this week that players can unlock an alternate "Kong Lives!" ending by playing the game a second time. That's the launching point for my review in Slate:
Shorter Slate: "That new ending for Kong the Game turns a tragedy into a travesty. The fact that Ubisoft's Kong game ends with the player, as Kong, dying is a big step for video games. After all, death is the traditional game metaphor for 'you lose.' With the alternate conclusion, Kong gets the conventional end-of-game Happily Ever After treatment, and gamers get the satisfaction of 'winning.' The difference between the two endings illustrates what's so frustrating about Kong the Game. It's like no game you've ever played. Except when it's like every other game you've ever played."
Recycled Peter Jackson content: "Assessment" of Peter Jackson.
You know, if games really are reaching towards their Citizen Kane (and I think you'd have to take up that debate with Roger Ebert) don't you think it's about time game critics started to think about spoilers? At least a spoiler warning about Kong would be nice.
And by the way, Billy Zane is the hottest man alive.

I am sorry that this is not the right comment for this particular article, but I didn't see a comment on anything else.
Yes, you are right about Harry otter pretty much having a joyride through Hogwarts, which makes his final destiny more of a hardship.
JK Rowling does not portray Harry as a full-blooded boyscout. She also adds the facts. One; He's just like everyone else, just over-publisized. The reason no one knows that his mother saved him is because there were no witnesses, and very few other people to hear the profe--hold on, I must find a dictionary and pray there aren't any spiders in it--prophecy in it's full. Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley are the only people Harry's told.

It's no Rad Racer, I'll say that much.
